Pangasius is farmed in freshwater ponds in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam. And the type of this fish is absolutely an exclusive merit in the region. It has long been familiar, popular and appearing in daily meals in almost residents who living alongside the downstream of Mekong River, which flowing through Thailand, Cambodia, as far as Vietnam, along with other fishes of same kind such as P. krempfi (ca bong lau), P. conchophilus (ca hu), or Plotosus canius (ca ngat) and so on.  

 

Being not only overwhelmed among consumers in homeland, but the fish is also well known worldwide with over 134 countries up to now. The fish is millions of consumers favored par with the white meat fish that Europeans and Americans are used to consume like headock, pollack, tilapia. Now this 'Tra' fish has been classified as one of the ten of most favourite diets in the US.

 

Apart from it charesteristics which proven preferrably owing to the taste of tender, white, odorless nature, it is provided for nutrious recipes yet less expensive comparing to the others of same kind. Many tests have been carried out on this fish for safe on food grade, free from any harmful substances or chemicals or antibiotics. The fish has no harmful cholesterol, yet retain many unsaturated fatty acids (MUFA, PUFA) that essential to human digestion, in particular, eicosapentaenoic (EPA) and docosahexaenoic (DHA) contents important for brain health, as well as normal growth and development.

 

Many tests have proved that if we are on a diet with fish regularly would bring back many returns, reducing cardiovascular risk but brain healthy, facial brightening, cancer prevention, healthy beautiful skin, grief-stricken symptom, inflammation, and so on. In addition, scientists proved that there are other properties of saturated fatty acids contained in the fatty content of the fish which is definitely necessary for child growth; otherwise, it may cause to the symptom of retardation or other skin illness, or reducing of self-resistance.

 

For sustainable supply of raw material appropriate to production, apart from our fish cultivating of our own, we also associate with farmers to form a range of large scale cultivation referred as 'farming area'. But a requisition for a farming associated engagement to ensure the traceability and sustainable development in terms of yields and pest controls is definitely a must. That is, for example, the certified Global Good Agricultural Practices (GlobalGAP), Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) into the US, and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) to ensure a bundle of transparency of material supply, free from antibiotics and harmful chemicals, waste treatment, environmental protection, and so on.
